This is too late for Alien Day as I forgot to schedule it! Like many, my first experience watching director James Cameron’s Aliens (1986), an action-packed sequel to Ridley Scott’s groundbreaking Alien (1979), was on pan and scan VHS in the mid-eighties (special thanks to my late mum for hiring it from a local video store decades before streaming)!
The latest 4K UHD remaster has seemingly courted controversy by utilising Park Road’s artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms to remove film grain - the grittiness amplified the tension.
I haven’t seen Aliens in 4K (waiting for Disney+), but I will follow developments with interest.
