Enter the Readyverse
When Apple announced Vision Pro last summer, the Cupertino-based tech titan’s first foray into mixed reality headsets, many gadget geeks (myself included) made an instant comparison to Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One!
Fast forward to 2024.
Whilst Warner Bros. Discovery is purportedly looking to merge with Paramount as it continues to cut costs, the indebted studio has licensed its IP including Ready Player One to an AI-powered metaverse!
The Readyverse is a thing! Here’s an excerpt from the press release:
“Readyverse Studios is building the definitive destination for fans to explore their favorite stories and IP in the metaverse, leveraging web3, metaverse games and experiences, augmented reality, and virtual reality technologies.”
It’ll be interesting to see how the Readyverse fares in the infamously fickle metaverse market.
Meanwhile, Apple has been working with Lucasfilm on exclusive Star Wars content for Vision Pro, which is available to pre-order from January 19th (in the US only). If any US-based friends fancy sending me a Vision Pro as a belated birthday gift…
